Complete Beginners Ukulele Camp
For ages 9 – 18 years
Absolutely no experience needed. The Complete Beginner Ukulele Camps are 3 hour half days. These camps are afternoon sessions only. The afternoon camp starts at 1pm and finishes at 4:00pm.
The Complete Beginners Ukulele Camp objective is to practically put the FUN into fundamental, teaching the skills and techniques of playing the ukulele. Students will be introduced to Tablature, Fingerboard Charts, Chord Charts, Rhythmic Notation and Strumming Patterns, Common Chords, Tuning Methods, Tuners, Tuner Apps, different sizes and names of ukuleles, strings, and types of picks.
Basic popular 2, 3 and 4 chord songs are a plenty on the ukulele. Students will learn quickly the ease of playing many popular songs whether Country, Blues, Pop, Folk, Rock, Campfire songs and more will be introduced to the student to play. It’s truly amazing how many of the popular songs in all genres contain more or less the same chords and often the same rhythm pattern. Simple melodic lines and scale patterns will be explored. Students will have the opportunity to write their own melodies or chord progressions. Popular chord progressions and song forms in Country, Folk, Pop, Rock and Blues will all be learned as well.
Song forms will include the elementary and widely popular 12 bar blues format. There are many 12 bar songs. Simple examples being, Twinkle Twinkle, Silent Night, and pretty much any Blues song and Blues Rock songs. Most popular songs repeat over 4, 8 or 12 bars. Songs like… Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire”; Adele’s “Hello”; Bob Dylans “Wagon Wheel”; “Riptide” Vance Joy; “Hallelujah” Leonard Cohen; “I’m Yours”. Jason Mraz; “Over The Rainbow”, Israel Kamakawo’ole; “Fireflies”, Owl City; “Stand By Me”, Ben E. King; “Brown Eyed Girl”, Van Morrison; “You are My Sunshine”; “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”, U2; “Hey Soul Sister”, Train; “Stay With Me”, Sam Smith; “Chasing Cars”, Snow Patrol; “A Thousand Years”, Christina Perry; and on and on and on. Many of these songs use the same chords and are pretty easy to play with basic strumming patterns.
This Ukulele Camp will give campers many tools and knowledge to explode them into the world of playing the Ukulele. This camp will also give students a huge head start if they decide to enrol in ukulele or guitar lessons later on. The camp will be a Ton-O-Fun while learning some cool stuff about playing and having fun on the Ukulele.
Registration fee for The Complete Beginners Summer Ukulele Camp is $130.00 per camper. All learning materials, information and 1 inch binder are included with camp registration.
